Check the live forecast above for current conditions. Cambodia has a tropical monsoon climate with a dry season from November to April and a wet season from May to October. Temperatures stay warm year round, but rainfall varies significantly by region and month.

What is the typical weather across Cambodia?

The climate is hot and humid for most of the year. In Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, average highs range from 30°C to 35°C. The coolest months are December and January, when it is also driest. The wet season brings heavy afternoon downpours, especially from June to September. Coastal areas such as Sihanoukville see slightly more rain.

When is the best time to visit?

November to February offers the most comfortable weather for travel. Dry and cooler conditions make sightseeing in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh easier. March to May is the hottest period, often reaching above 38°C. If you prefer fewer crowds and don’t mind rain, September and October can still work, but check cambodia weather forecast 14 days ahead.

What is the weather like in Siem Reap compared to Phnom Penh?

Siem Reap and Phnom Penh both have very similar tropical monsoon climates. Siem Reap can be slightly cooler at night due to its inland location, but daytime temperatures and rainfall patterns are almost identical. Both cities see a distinct dry and wet season.

Does it rain much in December and November?

December is one of the driest months across Cambodia, with very little rain and lower humidity. November is transitional: early November still sees some showers, but by mid-month the dry season settles. Cambodian weather in November and December is ideal for outdoor activities.

Should I pack for all seasons?

Pack lightweight, breathable clothing for the heat. If travelling in the wet season (May–October), bring a compact rain jacket and waterproof footwear. For November–February, a light layer for cooler evenings is useful. Sun protection and insect repellent are essential all year.
